Youth Program ages 10-14
This program is offered for all students 11-15 years of
age. Students are allowed to train three days a week
including two 45 minute Teen classes and one adult
basic or beginner classes. The Teens class enables
preteens and teens to enjoy practicing their Aikido
techniques on age-matched peers with a focus on self
defensive Aikido partner techniques, strength and
flexibility exercises, Aikido drills, lessons in Japanese
etiquette, and opportunities for character development.
The Adults basic and/or beginners classes allow the
student to be challenged to learn in a more traditional
setting. Within the Teen's Program nominated students
participate in our leadership program, the Senshin
Program. Senshin members learn about how to assist
junior students, receive monthly instruction on leadership
skills, and are entitled to additional training privileges
reserved for the serious student.
We at JSA understand the importance of instilling the character traits
of responsibility, respect, discipline, self confidence and excellent
choice making skills in children. Our children's program teaches
practical and proven self-defense methods, in addition to enforcing
clear rules of good behavior to be followed in class and at home. Our
patient and highly qualified instructors are trained in effective
teaching strategies to teach children of all abilities. The style of
martial art we teach, Aikido, nurtures cooperative behaviors in class
that aid children in dealing with daily life challenges without the use of
competition and tournaments.
